The Barakara Aquarium – where you can swim with turtles! There are two aquariums in Nungwi, but you can only swim with turtles at the Barakara.
Das Barakara Aquarium – wo man mit Schildkröten schwimmen kann! Es gibt zwei Aquarien in Nungwi, aber nur im Barakara kann man tatsächlich mit ihnen schwimmen.
I was super nervous because I haven’t been so close to these beautiful animals before. I went slowly into the water and the tortoise started to gather around me. I started to feed them with plankton while they touched me while swimming around me. I saw and heard them breathing and I was really close to tears. What an amazing experience!
Ich war super nervös, denn ich war diesen wunderschönen Tieren noch nie zuvor so nah gewesen. Ich stieg ins Wasser und langsam versammelten sich die Schildkröten um mich herum. Ich fing an sie mit Plankton zu füttern und während die Tiere um mich rum schwimmen, berührten sie mich. Ich sah und hörte, wie sie atmeten. Ich war wirklich fast den Tränen nahe. Was für ein unglaubliches Erlebnis!
Well what can I say about Nungwi? Nungwi has one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in my life. I couldn’t believe how turquoise the water was!
Nun, was kann ich über Nungwi sagen? Nungwi hat einen der schönsten Strände, die ich je in meinem Leben gesehen habe. Ich konnte nicht glauben, wie türkis das Wasser war!

Each morning the kitchen team provides a buffet style breakfast, which was really nice! Oh and don’t forget the staff! Absolutely nice people! You can also get a small lunch menu with local dishes as well as pizzas and sandwiches. Before the evening you can choose between a fixed menu with a choice of dishes or a buffet which includes starters, salads as well as homemade Swahili dishes, international and vegetarian options. It was just great!
Jeden Morgen richtet das Küchenteam ein Frühstücksbuffet her, das wirklich toll war! Und nicht zu vergessen ist das tolle Personal, richtig nette Menschen! Man bekommt außerdem ein kleines Mittagsmenü mit lokalen Gerichten sowie Pizzas und Sandwiches. Nachmittags kann man zwischen einem festen Menü mit einer Auswahl an Vorspeisen, Salaten sowie hausgemachten Suaheli-Gerichten und internationalen und vegetarischen Speisen wählen. Es war wirklich toll!
Located directly on the beach, cooled by the sea breeze, you can get rid of the tension trough the massage team of the Mnarani’s Spa. I had a relaxing Full Body Massage, it was sooooo good!!
Direkt am Strand gelegen, erfrischt von einer Meeresbrise, kann man seine Verspannungen durch das Massage Team des Mnarani’s Spa lösen. Ich hatte eine entspannende Ganzkörpermassage, die war soooo gut!!

I went out for a trip to see some dolphins, and I was skeptical right from the very first beginning. I always said that I don’t want to go on the boat if we would chase them and they all told me that we wouldn’t. When we arrived at the spot where you can see dolphins when you’re lucky, we saw three other boats. And of course when someone saw a dolphin, the boats tried to come closer and chased them. I didn’t see a lot of dolphins, or even enjoyed this trip. I can just say that everything that comes with chasing animals in its natural habitat is not good. So leave it 🙂 But what I did get was a horrible sunburn that lasts about a week 😀
Ich habe bei einem Ausflug mitgemacht, um ein paar Delphine zu sehen und war von Anfang an skeptisch. Ich habe immer gesagt, dass ich nicht an Board gehen möchte, wenn wir die Delphine verfolgen würden, und alle sagten natürlich, dass dem nicht so wäre. Als wir an die Stelle kamen, an der man mit etwas Glück die Delfine sehen kann, sahen wir auch drei andere Boote. Wenn jemand einen Delfin sah, versuchten natürlich alle Boote näher dran zu sein und somit waren sie doch hinter den Delfinen her. Ich habe nicht viele Delfine gesehen, noch habe ich diesen Ausflug genossen. Ich kann nur sagen, dass alles was damit zu tun hat, Tiere in ihrem natürlichem Lebensraum zu verfolgen, nicht gut ist. Also lasst es 🙂 Aber was ich bekommen habe, war ein schrecklicher Sonnenbrand, der ungefähr eine Woche lang andauerte 😀
