The Serengeti Nationalpark is Tanzanias oldest and most famous national park and it’s best known for the big animal migration every year. You can see many thomson gazelles, large buffalo herds, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, several thousand antelopes, impalas and grant’s gazelles. And not to forget the majestic lions!
Der Serengeti Nationalpark ist Tanzanias ältester und bekanntester Nationalpark und berühmt für die riesige alljährliche Tiermigration jedes Jahr. Man kann viele Thomson-Gazellen sehen, außerdem große Büffelherden, kleinere Gruppen von Elefanten und Giraffen, mehrere tausend Antilopen, Impalas und Grantgazellen. Und nicht zu vergessen die majestätischen Löwen!
I’ll never forget this moment, when our guide said he thinks there is a lion hiding in the grass of the steppe. We try to find him and then suddenly the lion got up and I was absolutely fascinated about how well he was able to hide himself. In the next moment another one got up, which I haven’t seen coming at all. And if this hadn’t been enough, another one got up, so there were three lion brothers hiding in the steppe grass. Amazing!
Ich werde diesen Moment nicht vergessen, als unser Guide uns mitteilte, dass er einen Löwen im Steppengrass vermutete. Wir versuchten ihn zu finden, als der Löwe plötzlich aufstand. Ich war total fasziniert davon, wie gut er sich verstecken konnte. Im nächsten Moment stand ein weiterer Löwe auf, den keiner von uns vermutet hatte. Und als wäre dies noch nicht genug gewesen, stand noch ein weiterer auf, also hatten sich drei Löwenbrüder im Steppengras versteckt. Unglaublich!
Lions, leopards and cheetas are hunting in the Serengeti for prey. Moreover in no other national park you can find all three african jackal species. Also spottet in the Serengeti: hyenas and a variety of smaller predators such as aardwolfs or servals.
Löwen, Leoparden und Cheetas jagen in der Serengeti nach ihrer Beute. Außerdem kann man in keinem anderen Nationalpark alle drei afrikanischen Schakale vorfinden. Außerdem findet man Hyänen und eine Menge anderer Raubtiere so wie Erdwölfe oder Servals.
Of course we camped in the Serengeti as well. Some of you will probably think: How can we camp in the middle of the Serengeti, not getting killed by any wild animal. Well you actually do camp in the wild, but there are also some permanently installed buildings like a kitchen for the chefs ( you do have a guide and a chef whilst doing your Safari), sanitary and a place for dining. Due to the fact that the place is quite busy because all tourists who are on a Serengeti safari come together for the evening, wild animals are not interested to come over. We did see some Zebras coming quite close though! But I can definitely tell you it was amazing hearing the different, unique noices of the wildlife out there at night. I especially remember the noice of the hyenas, one of a kind!
Natürlich haben wir auch in der Serengeti gezeltet. Einige von euch werden sich jetzt wahrscheinlich denken: Wie können wir in mitten der Serengeti zelten, ohne von irgendeinem wilden Tier umgebracht zu werden? Nun man camped schon in der Wildnis, aber es gibt auch einige fest installierte Gebäude wie eine Küche für die Köche (man wird neben dem Guide auf der Safari auch noch von einem Koch begleitet), Sanitäranlagen und einem Ort zum Essen. Aufgrund der Tatsache, dass der Ort ziemlich belebt ist, da alle Touristen, die auf einer Serengeti Safari sind, am Abend zusammenkommen, sind wilde Tiere nicht daran interessiert, vorbei zu kommen. Aber wir haben einige Zebras gesehen, die sehr nah heran gekommen sind! Aber ich kann euch definitiv sagen, dass es erstaunlich war, Nachts die verschiedenen, einzigartigen Geräusche der Tierwelt zu hören. Ich erinnere mich besonders an die Geräusche der Hyänen, die einzigartig sind!
When thinking back of my time in the Serengeti one feeling comes right back to my mind: FREEDOM. In the seemingly endless savannah you can feel nature in it’s pure beauty and no matter what bothers you in life at the moment, for your time in the Serengeti, it will surely be gone.
Wenn ich an meine Zeit in der Serengeti zurückdenke, kommt mir ein Gefühl sofort wieder in den Sinn: FREIHEIT. In der scheinbar endlosen Savanne spürt man die Natur in ihrer puren Schönheit und egal, was dich gerade im Leben beschäftigt, für deine Zeit in der Serengeti wird es sicherlich weg sein.
